The Plano Secuencia Club team caught us just as we were wrapping up our second edition: exhausted, happy and over the moon. We had a quick chat about how this whole madness got started, the incredible response we got this year and our plans to keep making trouble. Because, as we said: we came to Barcelona to stay.

As a prelude to our second edition, we brought together at Gigamesh bookstore four authors who have horror running through their veins: Alicia Albares (Crisálida), Desirée de Fez (No la dejes sola, Reina del grito), Katherine Vega (Bloodland, Corpvs Diaboli) and María Fernanda Ampuero (Sacrificios humanos, Pelea de Gallos). In this panel, moderated by Javi, they discussed the current situation of women in genre literature (and in literature more broadly), while also exploring how each of them developed an interest in horror, their inspirations, and their upcoming projects. At Habitació 910 we talked with Alvie about what the Walpurgis Queer Horror Film Festival is and why there’s a need to put the spotlight on queer horror within genre festivals. We discussed the connexion between dissidence and monsters, and we shares our favorite queer monsters. We also went over the programme for our first edition: feature films, short films in competition, queer role-playing games, workshops, exhibitions, and a tribute to Pierrot, a key figure in horror cinema during Franco’s dictatorship in Spain.
