Mathieu Morel: Sex & Love

Mathieu Morel grew up in a small town in the Beauce region, where he founded the film collective Rabbit Hole with his twin sisters. He moved to Paris in 2014, where he met his partner and creative collaborator, Léolo, with whom he founded the association Horschamp, a key player in the Parisian cultural scene. In 2018, Mathieu was admitted to La Fémis with the short film Night of the Living Sluts, which gained attention on the festival circuit. He graduated in 2019 with jury honors for As Hard as You Can. Since then, he has developed a cinematic universe that blends melodrama, fantasy, eroticism, horror, parody, and experimental forms. His work has been screened at numerous festivals. In 2023, the Cinémathèque Française dedicated a retrospective to his work, and he has just completed his fifth medium-length film, Yaoi Dumb Bitch, partly shot in Tokyo and produced by Yann Gonzalez. At Walpurgis, we present a selection of his short films across two sessions:

Feminine Revenge

With a degree in Audiovisual Communication, Lucía Forner Segarra completed a Master’s Degree in Cinematography at ESCAC and the Cinematography program at UVA. In her work, violence naturally coexists with comedy and tragedy. Her latest short film, Berta (2024), was part of the official selection at Walpurgis 2025. This year, she returns as one of the key figures in an edition dedicated to exploitation cinema, bringing into focus a re-examination of rape & revenge, a theme central to her trilogy of empowered women: Marta (2017), Dana (2020), and Berta. The session will include a Q&A with the director.
