Round Table:
Women Writing Horror
Alongside LGTBIQA+ representation in film, one of the core pillars of Walpurgis is giving visibility to horror made by women (and for the girls and the gays), whether behind the camera or in the writing. As a prelude to our second edition, we invite you to a roundtable at Gigamesh bookstore, where we’ve brought together four authors with horror running through their veins: Alicia Albares (Crisálida), Desirée de Fez (No la dejes sola, Reina del grito), Katherine Vega (Bloodland, Corpvs Diaboli) and María Fernanda Ampuero (Sacrificios humanos, Pelea de gallos). The panel will be moderated by Javier Parra.

Pódcast crossover:
Oye, Baby & Jane: ¡Estamos Vivas!
In Baby & Jane, two friends (Noemí Navarra and Marina Velveth) chat informally and with infectious enthusiasm about films directed (or written) by women. In ¡Estamos Vivas!, the Javis of Terror™ (Xavi Sánchez Pons and Javier Parra) proudly claim their place as the true underground podcast of genre cinema. We have no idea what might happen in this live recording, so we invite you to come and find out. The crossover you didn’t know you needed.

Gender Perspective
in Exploitation Cinema
The leitmotif of our second edition is exploitation cinema, and with it we pay tribute to the ever-controversial filmmaker Andy Milligan. We’ve invited three experts, each in her own field, to discuss women directors who have approached or worked within B-movie productions, proving that the scrappiest, most unruly cinema isn’t just a boys’ club. Together with Lucía Forner Segarra (director), Sabina Pujol (programmer) and Belit Lago (film critic), we further champion figures such as Tura Satana, Suzanna, Barbara Peters, Katt Shea and Roberta Findlay. The talk will be moderated by Noemí Navarra.

A night with Santa Catalina
Santa Catalina is a transgender artist based in Barcelona. Her work explores femininity from a dissident perspective, drawing inspiration from the worlds of circus, cabaret and horror cinema, among others. The artist, who will host our now iconic Grindhouse Queer session, will treat us to a midnight performance as the grand finale of a party you won’t want to miss.
