For the 2025 Short Film Competition we had the honor to work with:
Freya Palau. With a degree in Fine Arts, she’s worked a theatre, film, television, and voice actress. In her Holy Trinity you’ll find cinema, and horror is her fetish. She says she feels alive when being scared, can you believe it? Should I say I’m trans?
LA MONSTRUA
Canela Rodríguez Fontao and Mariana Zárate both have degrees in Art from the University of Buenos Aires and have been working for over 13 years analysing horror cinema. They have published in international outlets, collaborate in different film review websites, and co-created La Monstrua Cinéfaga, a multiform space dedicated to the study of the horro genre, with a special focus on women-directed cinema and female representations in horror, both in front of and behind the screen.
Jordi Chicletol is a pop culture communicator with a background in event organisation and styling. He currently works as a host on Betevé, as well as a speaker and content creator. He has collaborated with brands such as Filmin, Kappa, Diesel and Levi’s, and with institutions like LCI, Zink Project and ESDI. His work has also been linked to festivals including Eufònic, In-Edit and Moritz Feed Dog, contributing to programming and parallel activities. Actively engaged in social activism, he has collaborated with La Marató de TV3, the NGO Osoigo, and is currently training as an activist with Obertament, focusing on mental health awareness. On social media, he is a recognised voice on equality and diversity within Barcelona’s LGTBI community.
Miguel Lafuente is a filmmaker, screenwriter and director of several queer-themed short films such as Separata, Lo que quiero de ti or El primer beso. He has also produced works by other filmmakers such as Emiliano Spampinato, Álvaro Lucas and Rosa Blas Traisac. He is also the artistic director of LesGaiCineMad, the International LGBTQIA+ Film Festival of Madrid, and coordinates QueerCineLab, a film lab that supports the development of queer-themed film projects.
